We aren’t just in revival, we’re in reformation. Reformation is a divine response to the spiritual decay of many churches and hearts. It’s a move of God to restore, cleanse, and realign His people with His heart, word, and wayss.
In the book of Nehemiah, post exile, Israel’s walls and identity were broken down. Nehemiah rebuilt the city, and Ezra restored the Word. People lamented under conviction, repented, and renewed covenant with God. That national reformation turned people back to God in society, government, and worship.
At 16, Josiah sought God. At 20, he tore down idols. At 26, he found the Book of the Law and led national repentance and reform. He removed pagan altars, burned false priesthoods, and restored the Passover. He tore down what defiled and boldly restored what God desired.
The greatest reformer was and continues to be our Jesus. He confronted religious corruption, flipped tables, rebuked hypocrites, and taught Spirit and truth. He fulfilled the Law, redefined righteousness, and ushered in the Kingdom at all costs. Why? Because God is worthy.
I see American government trying to put bandaids on what is broken with prayer in schools and ‘Anti Christian Bias’ units, yet as laws may shift, without heart change, there is no true repentance and no lasting fruit.
Pentecost turned fearful followers into bold proclaimers. They broke from tradition, faced persecution, and established Kingdom culture: radical unity, holiness, and power. Reformation didn’t stop at Pentecost, yet over the centuries there has been many attempts to hijack the true church Jesus established for us. Today we see, not just in America but perhaps where you live too, many churches have gone astray by way of heresy, vain religion, lukewarm doctrine, and false prophets.
Nevertheless, the Spirit that ignited the early church is stirring the remnant again: reforming hearts, altars, and houses. It’s time to boldly contend for the true gospel, to pull up our sleeves and radically love others instead of placating their flesh, and to worship the Most High God who came in the name of Jesus Christ in Spirit and in truth.
