Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12 that he boasts in his weakness so that the power of Christ may rest on him. One of the biggest problems with the church today is that we preach half a gospel: Christ crucified, but not Christ resurrected.

When did we forsake the power of the Holy Spirit? He’s part of the good news too. The beauty of the gospel isn’t that we stay stuck in cycles of inability. It’s that Christ lives in us, and He is able. He doesn’t just tell us to reckon the flesh dead; He fills us with His Spirit so we can walk in newness of life.

We never want to risk leading Spirit filled believers to think obedience is impossible, especially those already crushed by religious performance. 2 Timothy 3:4–5 warns us to avoid those who remain in sin while denying the transformative power within them. Scripture is clear: the flesh can’t obey, but Spirit filled sons and daughters can walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, Galatians 5:16.

Religious strongholds perpetuate the lie that a believer is unable to do anything holy or righteous which completely denies the new power of God through us. Partial gospels may sound spiritual, but they strip the cross of its power and leave people stuck, not because God can’t free them, but because they’ve been taught He won’t.

There’s a big difference between boasting in weakness to invite God’s strength and resigning to weakness as if transformation isn’t possible. The same grace that saves us also trains us, Titus 2:12. The old nature doesn’t get tolerated.. it gets buried. Weakness is not the final destination.
